The roots of our mineral oil works go back to 1847. During the period of increasing industrialization, lubricants for carriages, greases for horses' hooves and linseed oils were highly sought-after goods - a demand that company founder Gustav Meguin already knew how to meet back then. This deep understanding of our customers' needs is still one of the pillars of our success today.
1847 - Mit Harzen und Pechen legte Gustav Meguin im Saarland den Grundstein für unser Unternehmen. Es folgten Huffette, Leinöle und Schmiermittel für Wägen.Gustav Meguin laid the foundation for our company in Saarland with resins and pitches. This was followed by hoof greases, linseed oils and lubricants for carriages.
1890 - Our product range grew with industrialization. Lubricants for the steel industry, mineral oils and greases for the onset of motorization set new priorities.
1948-1959 - During the reconstruction phase after the Second World War and the incorporation of the Saarland into the new Federal Republic of Germany, mineral oils and fats continued to be sought-after goods. This made us an important economic factor at the time.
2006 - Meguin GmbH & Co. KG became a wholly owned subsidiary of LIQUI MOLY GmbH. A change in management was followed by several investment packages, which ultimately resulted in rapid growth.
2011 - The laying of the foundation stone for our tank storage facility with a capacity of 18 million liters in the Saar port of Dillingen opened up new opportunities for growth and proved to be a worthwhile investment in the future.
2014-2017 - We invested around EUR 20 million in new laboratories, underground tanks and a central formula tank farm with matrix distribution, filling systems for canisters and barrels, the installation of packing robots and a system-supported label warehouse, among other things.
2015 - In order to guarantee consistently high product quality, we modernized and expanded our laboratory. This ensured that lubricants can continue to be developed and produced to the highest standards at the Saarlouis site in the future.

With our expertise and a diverse range of automotive and industrial products, we are a sought-after system partner for the mineral oil and technical trade as well as a technology and innovation partner for industry with global distribution.

When selecting all raw materials and sourcing ingredients such as high-quality base oils and additive packages for production, we rely on long-term partnerships. Only the best components from reliable and trusted suppliers make it into our formulations. In addition, all raw materials and finished products undergo strict quality control, ensuring that we fulfill our quality promise.
We continuously invest in expanding our production capacity: Our tank farms have a total capacity of 18 million liters, and our raw material and formulation facility has a total of 140 storage tanks. A state-of-the-art matrix distributor ensures efficient material flow. Eleven mixing systems provide batch capacities of up to 22 tons. On two filling lines, up to 300 large containers are filled daily, while five small-container filling lines process between 70,000 and 100,000 liters each day, in containers ranging from 250 ml to 5 liters.
The major advantage of our production process lies in its volume and high level of flexibility. This allows us to produce around 480 tons of oil daily and manufacture up to 70 different products. Annually, we produce approximately 80,000 tons of lubricants, including over 350 different oils.
With the help of our well-equipped laboratory facilities, we monitor the entire production process, from raw material delivery to shipment, in-house. This enables us to act more economically, as well as much faster and more flexibly, when dealing with the numerous daily oil samples and individual analyses for production control. All relevant production data for each manufacturing line is carefully recorded and documented. Labeling with batch numbers and production dates ensures complete traceability of all products.
